Sundt Construction is marketing a new material that helps strengthen older buildings such as hospitals, schools and military bases. The fabric, reinforced with epoxy compounds, is applied to concrete columns and buildings' other structural supports. It is made of fibers commonly found in golf club shafts, tennis rackets and bicycle frames. The material is supposed to add lightweight strength.

Sundt officials say such technology is becoming increasingly important in larger markets like California , where the threat of man-made and natural disasters has state lawmakers calling for tougher buildings. "Retrofits for seismic and blast remediation are quickly becoming more commonplace and urgent," said Tom Remensperger, Sundt's California president.

Sundt has formed a new business called Sundt Structural Services to sell the technology.

Saeed Mahmoodi of Rubberized Coatings of America bought 2.2 acres at 1220 W. Miracle Mile Road for $325,000. Andy Seleznov of Picor Commercial Real Estate Services represented the seller, Treban/Liebentritt. Walt Sample of Sample Realty Investment & Trust Co., represented Mahmoodi. 

Dennis, David and Nancy DeConcini bought the Chuy's restaurant at 8995 E. Tanque Verde Road for $1.13 million. Dale Webber of Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Brokerage Co. represented the DeConcinis. 

Rae Shell One LLC of Tucson bought the 52-unit Tucson East Apartments, 8490 E. Old Spanish Trail, for $2.1 million from James Associates Management Equity Services of Fountain Hills. Marcus & Millichap's Mike McClain negotiated the sale. 

9420 Golf Links LLC bought Rincon Plaza , 9420 E. Golf Links Road , for $2.5 million from Harrison Family Properties. Sperry Van Ness in Phoenix negotiated the sale.
