San Jose Plaza To Combine Retail Businesses, Offices
|
ARIZONA DAILY STAR
A new retail and office project is about to break ground on the Northwest Side. San Jose Plaza will be built on the east side of North Oracle Road, just north of El Conquistador Way. The development will wrap around the south and east sides of the existing Holiday Inn Express & Suites.
A bank, some restaurants and hair and nail salons have expressed interest in San Jose Plaza, but leases have yet to be signed, said John Yarborough of Romano Real Estate Corp.
Yarborough and Romano's David Carroll are marketing the property for the developer, a local group called Advisors in Real Estate.
"There seems to be a lack of space in Oro Valley for small retail shops," Yarborough said.
The project currently is zoned for as much as 32,050 square feet of retail and office space in four buildings. Construction should begin within a month on the two buildings south of the hotel, Yarborough said.
Jas Khangura, chief financial officer of the Holiday Inn, and Roger Bonus, who owns the neighboring Uno Chicago Bar & Grill, support the new development.
"Oro Valley is growing, and people want businesses that are nearby," Bonus said.
Construction on the two buildings east of the Holiday Inn won't start until there are tenants in place to lease them, Carroll said.
