Lemmon Land Reclassified |
|
ARIZONA DAILY STAR An amendment to Pima County's comprehensive land-use plan was approved unanimously by the Board of Supervisors Tuesday to help victims of the Aspen Fire rebuild their homes. The amendment applies to 445 acres that were affected by the fire, including the Willow Canyon, Mount Bigelow, Soldier's Camp and Loma Linda/Summerhaven areas. The land is now known as a "Rural Forest Village" area. It was previously classified as a "Resource Conservation" area.
The new designation will allow people with land in those areas to rezone their property and take advantage of less-stringent building requirements approved by the board on Aug. 11.
Also on Tuesday, the board unanimously approved the purchase of 1.5 acres of recently flooded land on Lago de Oro Parkway in Catalina. The county will pay $94,503 to the owners, Melvin James Johnson and Jonel Johnson.
The county is buying flood-prone properties along the Cañada del Oro Wash to prevent future flood damage.
