GREEN
VALLEY
--A proposal for up to 250 rental units in an independent living
center across from the Silver Springs Assisted Living complex has
drawn opposition from neighbors worried about density and property
values.
Abrego Partners LLC owns about 15 acres on the west side of
Abrego Drive north
of Camino Encanto and south of Calle Torres Blancas and has filed
for a zoning change on the western 8.7 acres, which face Interstate
19, Eddie Leon said.
Leon
is a partner in Abrego LLC, along with David W. Grounds, Michael S.
Dorn and others.
If the zoning change is granted, preliminary plans would mean as
many as 204 apartments of 600 square feet, some in two-story
buildings, and 46 casitas ranging from 675 square feet to 1,408
square feet, with a total of 485 parking spaces.
The plan is for the property to be sold to a company that develops
independent living centers,
Leon
said, and for construction to start as soon as late 2004.
Leon
declined to name the potential purchaser, saying that it had not
made a final commitment.
