He has served for several years as the Editor-in-Chief of the Appraisal Journal of the Appraisal Institute, and currently remains on the Editorial Board of this internationally respected professional journal. He has served on the editorial board of The Real Estate Appraiser and Analyst as well. Dr. Swango is a past president of the Arizona Chapter #41 of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers (now Appraisal Institute), the Tucson Chapter #116 of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, and the Tucson Association of Realtors. He has been active in professional organizations for decades and serves a wide range of top quality clients both nationally and locally.
Dr. Swango served on the Admissions Committee, Continuing
Professional Education-Seminars committees of both primary
professional organizations (‘Appraisal Institute’ and the
‘Society of Real Estate Appraisers,’ since merged into
Appraisal Institute). He has had several articles published on
various valuation topics. Dr. Dan Swango is Past President, recent
Chairman of The Board, and charter principal of The Real Estate
Counseling Group of America, Inc., a select group limited to
roughly twenty nationally recognized real estate appraisers,
counselors, and advisors serving local, national, and
international clients. He is currently on the International
Relations Committee of the Appraisal Institute. He served with St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Board of Directors
as President of the Community Relations Advisory Council. He is a
co-founder and charter trustee of St. Gregory High School, a
college preparatory school. He was co-chairman of the Finance
Committee of Catalina United Methodist Church with a budget in
excess of one million dollars.
He is qualified as an expert witness in the Superior Courts of
Arizona and California. Dr. Swango has served as a special
consultant to the Federal Home Loan Bank Board in Washington, D.C.
and Lincoln Land Institute, Harvard University at Cambridge and
has been an appraiser for these as well as the Federal Assets
Disposition Agency (FADA), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation,
and the U.S. Justice Department.
He has written articles which have been published in the
Australian Property Valuation Journal, The Appraisal Journal
of
the Appraisal Institute, and The Real Estate Appraiser and
Analyst. He is a winner of the top award of the Appraisal Journal,
the Armstrong-Kahn Award, in 2001 concerning separation of realty
and non realty interests in property. He is founder of the Swango
Award for outstanding Appraisal Journal articles. He is an
Editorial Board member of Real Estate Issues, Journal of
The Counselors of Real Estate.
Programs that he has instructed are wide and varied; they include SREA Courses 301 and 302, the most advanced courses in real estate analysis available of their type, and current Appraisal Institute courses 500, 520, and 540, advanced real estate appraisal and analysis courses, and a variety of seminars covering general and specific topics in Real Estate Appraisal and Analysis, Reviewing Appraisals (all types), Market Analysis, Creative Financing, Appraising and Loan Underwriting, Cash Equivalency, Lease Evaluation, Investment / Feasibility Analysis, Economic Feasibility Studies, Subdivision Appraising, Research Verification methods, Statistics for Appraising, Economics and Money Markets, and Federal Home Loan Bank Board’s Regulations (including Memorandum R41-C, FIRREA, and other regulatory matters and lending policies concerning property valuation), Uniform Residential Appraisal Report and The Commercial Appraisal Report Writing and Market Analysis Courses of the Appraisal Institute. Dr. Swango, immediate past Editor-in-Chief of the Appraisal Journal of the Appraisal Institute, and current Editorial Board member.

Founder EMERITUS: VERN W. SWANGO, MAI, SREA and
CRE when retired in 1980; b1911-d1985. Vern Swango founded
the firm in the mid 1950’s, and was a real estate
appraiser, consultant, and analyst with over forty years of
experience in various fields of real estate. Moreover, he
was an appraiser for, and advisor to, many distinguished
clients, private and public, and qualified as an expert
witness in various courts. A member of the American
Institute of Real Estate Appraisers (MAI) with special
awards, he held the SREA designation (Senior Real Estate
Analyst) of the [International] Society of Real Estate
Appraisers, and retired as a member of the American Society
of Real Estate Counselors (CRE). |
He was elected a distinguished Life Member of the Tucson Association of Realtors, Inc., and was also a member of The Arizona Association of Realtors, The Realtor’s National Marketing Institute, Urban Land Institute, as well as the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers and the Society of Real Estate Appraisers. Mr. Swango was Past-President of the Tucson Association of Realtors, Multiple Listing Service of Tucson, Chapter 116 of Society of Real Estate Appraisers, The Arizona Chapter 41 of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers, and served in many capacities on local, state and national levels. He was honored by receiving the Realtor of the Year Award from the Tucson Association of Realtors and the exclusive “President’s Award” from The American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers (now known as Appraisal Institute).

Currently, she is Managing Director of American Express Tax
and Business Services, Tucson Office. She is a recognized
CPA specializing in individual and small business tax and
accounting problems and solutions, internal business
organization, management and business advisory services, tax
and estate planning, and business evaluation.
Mr. Hendricks is a Member of the Appraisal Institute
(awarded the MAI Designation), a Arizona Certified General
Real Estate Appraiser (#30197), and is experienced in the
appraisal of commercial office and retail property,
industrial property, apartment complexes, special use
property, urban and rural land, and ranches. Mr. Hendricks
is an associate who has distinguished himself as an
